| Rolex Repair, Rolex Restoration and History of the Rolex - In 1908 Hans Wilsdorf registered the trademark "Rolex" and the company name "Rolex" was registered on 15 November 1915. The book The Best of Time: Rolex Wristwatches: An Unauthorized History by Jeffrey P. Hess and James Dowling says that the name was just made up. One story, never confirmed by Wilsdorf, is that the name came from the French phrase horlogerie exquise, meaning "exquisite clockwork" or as a contraction of "horological excellence". He also thought that the name "Rolex" was onomatopoeic, sounding like a watch being wound. It is easily pronounceable in many languages and all letters have the same size allowing to be written symmetrically. It was also short enough to fit on the face of a watch.
In 1914 Kew Observatory, an astronomical and terrestrial magnetic observatory founded by King George III (1760-1820), awarded a Rolex watch a Class A precision certificate, a distinction which was normally awarded exclusively to marine chronometers.

Services Performed
All watches for service are completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled, and timed using state of the art equipment. Cases are refinished, cleaned, and most plastic crystals are replaced.
Warranty
All watches that we service carry a one year warranty on work performed. Parts subject to normal wear such as crystals, straps, etc. are not covered under warranty, neither is damage as a result of abuse.
Service Turnaround Time
Our turn around time is usually 2 - 5 weeks. Depending on material availability. I am sure to keep my customers updated regularly on watches in for repair.

Watch Repair Estimates
Estimates for watch repair are provided free of charge. We are very fair and confident in our estimate process. Unlike most other watch repair service providers, in the event an estimate is not approved for repair we will pay for return shipping at same insured value your watch was received.
Payments for repairs
We accept Visa/Mastercard, paypal, bank check and money orders. We will contact you once your watch is accessed and upon our free estimate approval we require payment before the repair begins.
Watch repair estimates are provided via email, andy@ohiowatchrepair.com, or over the phone (513) 347-0153 or toll free (866) 821-9991 before you send your Rolex watch for repair. This estimate includes return safe insured shipping.
99% of the time your initial estimate will be the FINAL price that you pay. How can I give you an exact estimate without seeing your watch? Experience. I have personally repaired THOUSANDS of Rolex watches therefore with a little information from your end I can estimate the cost of a repair based on experience. The only exception is major rust issues inside your watch. That "may" effect your estimate but again, 99% of the estimates I give you is your final price.
Most repair shops have employees positioned as estimaters and not watch-makers. When dealing with these repair shops you should be almost certain the estimate will be higher when they assess your watch. Please feel confident that your Rolex is in the hands of a qualified trusted specialist.
